I want to get it published in some good magzine or online journal so that it comes as a benefit for all developers. I thought the C standard was the ultimate guide to writing portable C programs. The C standard defines precisely what it is that you can and cannot rely upon when trying to write code that is portable to all conforming implementations of C. However, that's not enough to qualify as the ultimate guide . The standard tells you that a = b/c has undefined behavior when c==0.0. The standard does not tell you that you should replace this with something like:     if(fabs(c)<_expression_)     {          // Error handling.     }     else         c = a/b; Nor does the standard give any advice as to what '_expression_' should be, nor how Error handling should be done. The standard also, inherently, provides no advice on how to write code for portability to nearly conforming compilers. For instance, it does not provide any indications as to which of its guarantees are the most frequently violated by such compilers.
