I am sorry for being a little late in uploading. I just didnot thought for it. here is the _link_ of the document. I have tried it as my first attempt so i will welcome all feedback. http://www.geocities.com/nikhil_bhargav/guide_to_writing_portable_cod... Thank you all for your time and concern. nikhil bhargava What format is that file in? I would have guessed from the extension that it was Microsoft Word, but StarOffice can't read it. StarOffice can read files in a lot of different formats, including any version of Microsoft Word format up till 2000. I haven't yet convinced our sysadmins to install OpenOffice, which would be able to handle newer formats. If you're really concerned about portability, you should use something more portable to distribute your guide. Plain text would be ideal. If you absolutely need sophisticated formatting abilities, PDF is somewhat more portable than MS Word.

If you absolutely need sophisticated formatting abilities, PDF is somewhat more portable than MS Word. Or consider HTML, which also offers considerable formatting advantages over text. HTML is not as sophisticated as PDF but is rather more portable. Given the choice, I would be far more likely to bother reading an HTML page than a PDF document.

I  think the document is lacking things abut i would appreciate if someone could list down the areas and some sources which needs to be worked on. First, provide it in a format that people are willing to read. Some will be okay with Word. More will be okay with PDF. Still more will be okay with HTML, I suspect. And I doubt whether you'd get /any/ _object_ions about text format.

Now it is available in all three formats i.e., Microsoft word, PDF and html. I am not an expert and i told u its my first effort, but i want to contribute articles for reading as i have myself referred to articles written by others. Feedback are invited on it. nikhil
